Britain's energy transition

From coal to wind — and the open project tracking it all.

A grid transformed

Since 1882 Britain has reinvented its grid — from coal smog to a wind-led system. Gas overtook coal in 2013, and in 2024 coal was switched off for good. Wind now routinely leads the mix.
